Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference~

My Story

Growing up, music and dance always have the most special place in my life. Living in China until I was fifteen, the relatively lacking presence of performing arts in most students’ extracurricular had made me stand out in school, where everyone else had practically the identity of drilling advanced math materials for years on end. Rather than feeling special about performing arts, performing arts made me feel special for the longest time.

Immigrating to Canada in high school was the start of my active appreciation of everything performing arts has given to me. Barely speaking English in English-speaking countries was certainly no fun, but socializing turned out to be significantly less challenging as performing arts served to be the medium that overcame the language barrier. Musical Theatre soon became my home and my English was able to improve at light speed thanks to the immersive yet welcoming environment.

Moving forward to the present, performing arts continue to be the one “mutual friend” whom I share with many other performing artists in the university. So many wonderful opportunities knock on my door, and grabbing these opportunities has completely changed my life. Looking into the future, hopefully my relationship with performing arts will continue to blossom and become one from the fairy tales ~.
